The Invitation to Journey With

September 27th, 2015 – Kim Pierrot

September 27th, 2015 – Community Prayer Response

So Scott, what’s your vision for Cap?
This is a question that many have asked me over the last while; one that I’ve been increasingly eager to answer.  And as we dive into this new season, we want to explore not just our vision, or my vision, but our sense of God’s vision for Cap – for who will seek to be in the coming years – and the core invitations that will lead us there.
Ultimately, our vision for Cap is simple – to be and grow as
a community
alive in Christ
for the sake of the world.
This is our third Sunday exploring what this means and the core invitations that lead us in the way of this God-dream – IN, WITH & FOR.  Over the last two Sundays, we’ve heard God’s invitation to come in, and to live for.  This morning Kim Pierrot will help us hear the invitation to journey with.

Celebrating and Anticipating God’s Work Amoung Us

September 6th, 2015 – Capchurch Speakers

This morning we stand between two seasons – summer and fall – but also between two significant seasons in the life of our church.  We will look back and celebrate some of the ways that we’ve seen God at work among us and around us recently, and we will look forward with anticipation for what God will do in the coming days.  And in the middle, we will come together to the Table and find Christ with us right where we are.

Mike’s Egression and Rustication

August 30th, 2015 – Mike Nichols

In the beginning, there was no retirement and no old people. People worked until age 20 and died of unnatural causes. Centuries passed. Elderly increased. By 500 A.D. so many elderly were hanging on to their wealth they were unpopular with their middle-aged sons. In 1883, Chancellor Von Bismarck, resisting Marxist intrusion, announced pensions for nonworking Germans 65+ (though few lived past 65 as penicillin still 50 years away). In 1905 chief physician at John Hopkins William Osler declared that workers 60+ “useless” and should be put out to pasture. In 1935 President Franklin D. Roosevelt proposed the Social Security Act which made workers’ pay for their own old-age insurance. In 1999, The AARP ‘retired’ from its name because most of its members continued to work. Today Mike retires from serving God at CapChurch… and so, you will hear his last official sermon as Pastor.
