Kindergarden- Grade 4

CapKids is our Sunday program for kids ages 0 to grade 4.This is a place where together with you and your child we will discover the character and grace that God is building into our young Cappers.

CapKids consists of approximately 30 children ranging in age from Kindergarten through to grade 4. We like to think that the hour our kids spend in church is a time where they fully experience God’s amazing love for them through the care from their community. We also want them to feel safe and to have FUN!!

After experiencing worship with their parents in the congregation, they are released into the cafeteria for a “big idea” (a mini lesson on the theme). The kids break up into their age group and head off to their various classrooms with their teachers and shepherds. The kids eat a snack and then pray before the lesson begins.

All our lessons follow a bible based theme/story and tend to be hands on activity based. Throughout the 4 week rotation kids will experience a variety of different theme related activities like drama, art, theatre, science, games and cooking.

CapKids uses a Rotation Model Format based on monthly themes that aim to cover major Old and New Testament stories. This year’s theme is Bible Explorations… digging deeper into God’s Word. In Bible Explorations we are encouraging and guiding the development of Bible skills in our children. We want them to know how to use a Bible, and to learn from it. Our goal is for the Bible to become the treasure to them that it is to us. Children who learn to use their Bibles can become teenagers and adults who know how to study their Bibles, to use it in times of trouble, and to make good decisions.

We base our lessons on the knowledge that children learn by multiple exposure and by working with the verses and books in the Bible. Like any other skill, the more children use their Bibles to find books and references, the more they will feel comfortable with their Bibles. The more they feel comfortable with their Bibles, the more they’ll use them. We endeavor to provide Children with an opportunity to use their Bibles every time they come to church.

Groupings: Kindergarten, Grade 1, Grades 2-4

Shepherds: assist 1 group for four consecutive weeks -three weeks of lessons and one week of group activities together with the other two groups.

Teachers: teach the same lesson for three consecutive weeks, one week per group
