Kindness Extended . . .

The COVID-19 Relief Fund (“CRF”) has been funded with an allocation of $50,000 from the Joan Spencer Endowment that will provide grants to address some of the local needs and issues that have arisen as a result of the current COVID-19 pandemic. CRF Grants are meant to be a tool and a resource for Cap Church, its congregants and the community it serves to live out “Presence | Compassion | Generosity” during this time of crisis.

OBJECTIVES

CRF Grants would be given to non-profit organizations or individuals (in keeping with Society rules) to address the needs of those that fall into one or more categories below:

  • Individuals/families who are in poverty or at risk of falling into poverty or homelessness.
  • The homeless.
  • The elderly or those that are shut in.
  • Those in long-term care facilities.
  • Those in our community who are in significant financial need as a result of this crisis.
  • Non-profit organizations that support the above objectives or our Cap Church community that have been severely negatively impacted as a result of COVID-19.

APPLICATION PROCESS

CRF Grants will be up to a maximum of $10,000. Potential recipients are asked to provide a brief letter outlining how they/their organization meet the CRF objectives and criteria, and how they intend to spend this money to support the CRF objectives and criteria.  Thereafter, organizations may be asked to submit a brief letter to share the project outcomes and how the money was spent.

CRITERIA

Projects must support the values of Cap Church and its purpose statement of “Presence | Compassion | Generosity”.  In addition:

  • The funds must be used to address a need that has risen as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • Charitable organizations with which Cap Church has an existing relationship, or that serve the needs of our “community”, and/or have been hurt significantly as a result of the pandemic.
  • Individuals may be eligible to receive funds through an approved organization or for an approved need.
