Questions (pick a few)

  • What kind of work might Paul and Silas have considered to be their important work of ministry?
  • How do these two stories show up in that context?
  • What do you make of the fact that Paul was “annoyed”?
  • What do you make of the fact that the healing of the young woman entailed that she was no longer declaring Paul and Silas as speaking the way of salvation?
  • What kind of work do we tend to think matters in life?
  • What kind of work, from reading these stories, is seen as important by God?

Read Acts 17:16-34

  • What did Paul notice in Athens?
  • What did he mean when he said “I can see that you are very religious”?
  • How might that relate to a society today that considers itself largely non-religious?
