Our Grade 10-12’s enjoyed a relaxing and memorable fall retreat in Chilliwack…
On the Nov 15-17 weekend, 12 youth and 4 leaders set out for Chilliwack on our 2nd Annual CHILL Fall Retreat at an amazing AirBnB house in Chilliwack. Highlights included a nature “hike”, making friendship bracelets, foosball tournaments, and a late-night game of Sardines in the dark.
On the way to our destination, we stopped in at Castle Fun Park to race Go-Karts and battle each other at Pac-Man and other arcade games. Then it was time to unplug, putting our phones and devices away for the next 36 hours to truly chill out and practice presence.
Janine led us in sessions where we learned about & took time to actually experience stillness, silence, & solitude. Heading home, one of the teens remarked: “Thanks so much to the leaders for a great weekend. I actually feel really mentally refreshed now!”
“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.” – Matthew 11:28-30 [MESSAGE]
